Writing a Persuasive Appellate Brief

Abstract:
Writing an appellate brief is a momentous task – either this is your last chance to convince a court of law that your client deserves to win, or you are defending a favourable verdict in the court below.  Yet, it is not often appreciated just how specialised appellate advocacy is. This article focuses on the written dimension of appellate advocacy and attempts to unravel some of the more significant but frequently overlooked aspects of writing a convincing appellate brief.
