Abstract:
The advent of artificial intelligence (“AI”) has turbo-charged some law practices, while others are only at the experimental stage, or have not yet started on this journey. Individuals can access and use AI easily, but it is more challenging to integrate AI use into workplace operations and workflows. Reasons range from resourcing to expertise to mindset. This last challenge is probably the most important one to overcome, as “where there is a will, there is a way”. This article explores possible solutions to overcome various barriers and obstacles to AI adoption by law firms, drawing on resources provided by the Ministry of Law to law firms, and using the Legal Aid Bureau as a case study.
